We do many traditional prayers as well as the Liturgy of the Hours. You can view my early posts with links to those prayers. We have devotional prayers unique to Mercedarian spirituality that we pray each day as well.
To Our Holy Mother of Mercy
O May, our Mother of Mercy, the fullness of God's dwells in you. With the eyes of a mother look upon our sons. Intercede for everyone who suffers in body or soul, and for all who are enslaved in mind or spirit. We give ourselves to totally-mind, heart and senses. Keep them and help us always to be a sign of God's love. Reveal to us what it means to be yours, and teach us to live in that same generosity with which you responded to the grace of Jesus our Redeemer. Amen.
One of the first beginnings of my reversion back to the faith was my desire to resolve the frustration I had at not having a relationship with the Blessed Mother. I remember saying while driving to work in Seattle, "Mother, if you want me to have a relationship with you, you're going to have to do it because I don't have a clue what to do. I have this frustration toward you and I don't know why. Can you just fix this so we can be in a good relationship again?" Her sweet and tender way of intercession on my behalf made a significant impression on me. Much like the consummation of Her Motherly role at the foot of Her Son's cross; I think once we recognize and accept Our Lady as Our Mother She never lets us go. Like an arrow of love piercing our heart, and at that moment we are drawn into Her graces and love, permanently placed in Her Heart. If there is a true and perfect slavery of love, a perfect embrace of holiness, this is the sweetest one you want to find yourself in. May Our Lord bring the whole world to recognize and embrace gratefully and affectionately their Blessed Mother!
